Rosedale Baptist Church
North Point Builders provided Design-Build services for the Rosedale Baptist Church and School located in Baltimore, Maryland. The Rosedale Baptist School was founded in 2000 and by 2010 had outgrown their campus. To solve this problem, North Point Builders helped the Rosedale School build a new Education Wing and Family Services Center next to the existing gym. Today, the school has the capacity to enroll over 250 students in grades Pre-K-12.
The new two-story wing includes nine classrooms, admin offices, storage and multi-purpose rooms, and lockers. The addition created large open spaces for community meetings and Bible Study. To provide easy access and protection from weather, the new building was constructed adjacent to the existing gym which also holds the cafeteria.
The construction plan also accounted for the need for easy access to and from the buildings on campus. Prior to construction, there was no designated path between the Church/School building and the gym. As part of the new project, North Point Builders constructed a bridge system between the existing Church and the new classroom addition. This bridge provides safe and easy access between the campus facilities.
Special Challenges
North Point Builders teamed up with the Rosedale Baptist Church Administration to make this project a success. We provided value engineering options to keep the project affordable. For example, we developed cost effective stone and pipe drainage systems to overcome the site’s exposure to underground water sources. Regrading the parking lot also resourcefully redirected unwanted water to a controlled storm water facility. Our expertise and ingenuity helped the project for Rosedale Baptist church stay within budget.
Because the facility remained occupied, we also coordinated regularly to make sure the Church and School functions could maintain their normal schedules while construction progressed. To keep the public and construction employees safe in the process, North Point Builders regularly managed equipment and delivery schedules and frequently held safety inspections.
