Harford County Ag Center

­­North Point Builders was the General Contractor for the new Harford County Agricultural Center in Street, Maryland. The County wanted an agricultural center where their services could be consolidated and the local farming heritage could be preserved. The new facility is a central and convenient location for the various agricultural agencies including the University of Maryland Agricultural Extension Office, State of Maryland Department of Forest Pest Management, State of Maryland Harford Soil Conservation District, and Harford County Farm Bureau.

North Point Builders completed a renovation of the 15,000 square foot facility. The interior of the building, including all plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems, was demoed to the original structure. Due to occupancy changes, upgrades to the existing well and septic systems were required. The efficiency of the building envelope was increased by adding spray foam insulation to the existing masonry and wood structure. Two new storefront entrances were added to enhance the look of the building and to fulfill ADA access requirements. The interior space was configured to include new offices, administrative spaces, conference room, storage areas, and restrooms.

In addition to the renovation, North Point Builders provided delegated design and construction services for the new 1,500 square foot Butler pre-engineered metal building (PEMB). Utilizing a PEMB offered an economical and time-saving approach to building a space to accommodate the agricultural material and ground equipment storage needs. The PEMB not only provided the functional needs for the ag center, but also allowed the storage facility to compliment the architectural style of the ag center.
